Sun City Man Convicted of Beating, Murdering Girlfriend

Following three days of testimony,a McHenry County jury took less than 90 minutes on Friday to find Robert Signorile guilty of the murder of his girlfriend, Michelle Mathieu, after he beat her, leaving bruises all over her body, fracturing her spine and ribs and causing severe head trauma, according to the Northwest Herald. 

Medical crews found Mathieu unconscious in the couple's bedroom in their home in Sun City, and she died six days later at Sherman Hospital in Elgin, according to the article. The Northwest Herald reports prosecutors referred to Signorile, who will turn 45 on Saturday, as a "belligerent alcoholic."

A sentencing hearing for Signorile is set for Jan. 24, according to the Chicago Tribune. He faces between 20 to 60 years in prison, according to the article.

Arlington Heights

Police: Woman Stole $600,000 From Allstate

An Arlington Heights woman has been charged with stealing about $600,000 from Allstate Insurance Company.

Lisa Sterner, 51, was arrested at her home by Cook County Sheriff's deputies and charged with theft and money laundering. Police said that Allstate contacted them in March to report that Sterner, a former payment annuity specialist had taken money for her personal use.

Police said an investigation discovered that Sterner had diverted returned annuity checks electronically into an account under the name of Nicole Sterner from October 2007 to March 2013. The transfers were made using an Allstate computer system ID and password belonging to Lisa Sterner.

Lisle Man's Death Being Treated as Homicide

Police investigating the remains of a 37-year-old man found in Woodridge are now treating the case as a homicide, according to a report.

The DuPage County coroner found that Scott Arcaro, of Lisle, died of a gunshot to the head, the Daily Herald reports. His skeletal remains were found by two boys in March.

Arcaro went missing in 2007 and was identified by his dental records, according to the report.

Woodridge police and a spokesman for the DuPage County state’s attorney office have not released many detail on the homicide investigation.

Missing 85-Year-Old Wanted for Sexual Assualt

Authorities say the 85-year-old man reported missing Sunday is facing criminal sexual assault charges and may have fled to Mexico.

The Kane County Sheriff’s Office reported Monday afternoon that it is continuing its investigation into the whereabouts of Enrique Ruiz, but offered additional information that the Aurora man "has a pending trial in Kane County for 
allegations of criminal sexual assault involving a family member."

"The Sheriff’s Office is investigating the possibility that Ruiz fled to Mexico where he owns property," the press release said.
