Police Search for Driver in Attempted Abduction

LITH Police are investigating a report of a man who demanded a 12-year-old girl get in his van on Monday night.

The Lake in the Hills Police Department is investigating a report of an attempted abduction on Monday night.

A 12-year-old Lake in the Hills girl told police she was walking in the area of McKinley Street about 8 p.m. when a man driving a white cargo van pulled up, offered her a ride and told the girl to get in the vehicle, said Lake in the Hills police Sgt. Erick Decker. 

The girl declined and ran to a nearby friend’s house.

The driver of the van then drove off, Decker said. The girl told police the van had a ladder on the side.

Police described the driver as a black male with facial hair. Lake in the Hills police continue to investigate the report.
