Police: Information Sought in Local Home Burglary

The home burglary was reported at 9:55 a.m. on Feb. 12 in the 3600 block of Burton Trail.

The McHenry County Sheriff's Office is looking for the community's help in tracking down a suspect in a burglary that occurred this morning at a home in unincorporated Crystal Lake. 

At approximately 9:55 A.M. on February 12, 2014, the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call for a burglary in progress in the 3600 Block of Burton Trail in unincorporated Crystal Lake. 

The caller was inside the residence when there was a knock on the door. The caller did not answer the door, and a short time later, the suspect forced entry to the residence, according to the sheriff's office, according to a McHenry County Sheriff's Office press release. 

Police said the caller confronted the suspect who immediately left and was last seen running eastbound on Tulip Street. The suspect was described as being a dark skinned male, approximately 6 feet tall with a thin build.

The suspect was wearing a ski mask and a faded dark colored hooded sweatshirt.

The sheriff's office is asking area residents to "remain vigilant and report suspicious activity immediately." Police have increased patrols in the area of the burglary.

 Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward up to $1,000.00 for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the offender(s). Crime Stoppers does not use caller ID.
