Police Blotter: Burglary, Theft and Forgery
The following incidents were listed among the official reports of the Crystal Lake Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.
Wanted on a Warrant
Randy Dotson, Jr., 32, 501 Maple Circle, Carpentersville, was wanted on a warrant for domestic battery and taken into custody by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, on Jan. 24, with a court date to be set.
Eli T. Garcia, 23, 321 DuPage St., Elgin, was charged with obstructing identification on Jan. 12. He was wanted on a warrant by DuPage County for failure to appear in court on a traffic offense. He was released on a $150 bond with a court date of Feb. 22 and DuPage Court date to be set.

On Jan. 17, Michael J. Mistretta, 18, 651 Virginia Road, #125, Crystal Lake, was wanted on a warrant by McHenry County for failure to appear in court and resisting a peace officer. He was taken to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office with a court date to be set.
Burglary

Bryan P. Sokoloski, 22, 47 Barberry Drive, Crystal Lake, was charged with residential burglary, theft and unlawful possession of cannabis on Jan. 18. He was taken into custody by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office with a court date to be set.
Retail Theft
Mark T. Dunke, 57, 26606 N. East Lake Shore Drive, Wauconda, was charged with retail theft on Jan. 25 and released on a $150 bond with a March 22 court date.
Clayton T. Simms, 20, 1468 Blue Heron Drive, Crystal Lake was charged with retail theft on Jan 25. He was released on a $150 bond with a March 1 court date.
Battery
Joshua P. Moore, 28, 520 Devonshire Lane, #1, Crystal Lake, was charged with domestic battery on Jan. 20. He was taken into custody by the McHenry County Sheriff with a court date to be set.
Cleophas C. McCaskel III, 37, 294 First Court, Crystal Lake was wanted on a warrant by McHenry County Sheriff’s Office for reckless driving and battery, Jan. 21. He was released on a $900 bond with court date of Feb. 4 and Feb. 15.
Sheila L. Benbennick, 23, 540 Devonshire Lane, #6, Crystal Lake was charged with domestic battery, on Jan. 25, and taken into custody by the McHenry County Sheriff with a court date to be set.
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Avery S. Schafer, 18, 50 N. Oak St., Crystal Lake, was charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and expired registration on Jan. 20. He was released on a $150 bond with a March 3 court date.
Forgery
Crystal N. Matthews, 22, 4142 W. Jackson Blvd., Chicago, was charged with forgery, on Jan. 20. She was taken into custody by McHenry County with a court date to be set.
