Police: 10 Cars Burglarized at Lippold, Veteran Acres Parks

At least 10 cars were burglarized between 3:45 and 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, at Lippold Park, Veteran Acres and the Crystal Lake Country Club in Crystal Lake, the Northwest Herald reports. 

Police described the crimes as “smash-and-grab” break-ins, where unknown offenders smashed car windows and stole purses, wallets, cellphones and other items they could see through the window, the Herald reports. 

Seven of the break-ins occurred at Lippold. A witness at Veteran Acres, where two break-ins occurred, saw the suspected thief's car speed away. The car had out-of-state license plates, the Herald reports. 

Veteran Acres is located at 431 Walkup Ave. in Crystal Lake. Lippold Park is at 800 Route 176 on the city's west side.
