Pedestrian Killed by Metra Train Near Fort Sheridan

Two people were hit by trains in separate incidents on Friday. One of those involved was killed by a Metra train in Lake Forest on Friday night.

A Metra train struck and killed a pedestrian Friday night just north of the Fort Sheridan station, according to the Chicago Tribune. The victim’s name, age and gender had not been released as of Saturday morning.

The incident happened around 7:15 p.m. and delayed trains in both directions for several hours, the Tribune states.

The train was not scheduled to stop at Fort Sheridan, but was on its way to Lake Forest for its 7:17 p.m. stop, the Daily Herald reports.

A pedestrian was also struck by a Metra train in Downers Grove, but was not killed, the Daily Herald states.
