Palatine Police Searching for Chase Bank Robbers

Police launched an extensive search for two men who robbed the Chase bank on Euclid Avenue in Palatine Monday afternoon, but the offenders were not located.

Two men who robbed the Chase bank at 825 W. Euclid Ave., near the Dominick's grocery store at about 3:10 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, have eluded capture, according to a Palatine Police Department press release.

A witness flagged down an Inverness police officer advising him the bank was being robbed. As the officer approached the bank, he observed a subject fleeing southwest from the bank into an adjacent residential neighborhood.

Responding Palatine units, and units from neighboring jurisdictions established a perimeter and the area was searched with the help of K9 and a helicopter from the Cook County Sheriffs Police. The search was met with negative results.

Fremd High School was also placed on a soft lockdown at about 3:30 p.m., but returned to normal operation at about 5:30 p.m.

Palatine detectives interviewed several witnesses who related that two male subjects entered the bank, both wearing black sweatshirts with the hoods up and black ski masks.

The first offender climbed over the teller counter and accessed cash drawers. The second offender stood in the lobby area with his hand in his pocket in such a manner as to imply having a weapon. Both subjects fled the bank together, according to the press release.

Palatine Detectives along with special agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation continue to investigate the matter. Anyone having additional information is asked to contact the Palatine Police Department at (847) 359-9000.
