Motorcyclist Collides With Deer, Flown to Area Hospital

Philip J. Casale of Hampshire is in stable condition following the one-vehilcle crash Thursday night.

A 56-year-old Hampshire man was injured Thursday evening in a singe-motorcycle crash in the 11000 block of Illinois Route 23 in unincorporated Riley Township, according to a McHenry County Sheriff's Office press release. 

Authorities responded to the crash at 6:06 p.m. The crash ejected Philip J. Casale from his motorcycle and a Flight for Life helicopter transported him to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville where he remains in stable condition, according to the Friday morning news release. 

The accident occurred when Casele's 1994 Harley Davidson Dyna Glide motorcycle collided with a deer while northbound on the 11000 block of Illinois Route 23, according to the press release. 

Casale was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Neither alcohol nor speed are suspected of playing a role in the traffic crash.

The crash is under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Crash Investigation Unit.
