A 65-year-old Fox Lake man was killed in a motorcycle crash Sunday morning in Spring Grove.

The accident occurred at 9:27 a.m. while a motorcyclist was traveling behind a minivan while west on Route 173 at Winn Road.

In an attempt to avoid a rear end collision, the motorcyclist drove into oncoming lane of traffic, "laid his bike down on its side" and was struck by the rear tire of the minivan, which was making a left turn at the intersection, according to a McHenry County Coroner's Office press release.

The motorcyclist, David M. Stoll of Fox Lake, was taken to Centegra McHenry Medical Center where we was later pronounced dead.

A coroner's office examination this afternoon revealed Stoll sustained multiple blunt force injuries to the chest and body, which caused his death.

Toxicology was obtained and is pending at this time. The accident remains under investigation by the Spring Grove Police Department.
