McHenry Teen Arrested for Battery, Home Invasion and Property Damage

Vincent P. Dunn, 18, was arrested and charged Thursday, Aug. 30, after he allegedly entered a house and hit another man in the face.

A McHenry teen was arrested Thursday after he allegedly entered a home, punched a man in the face and broke a window, according to a press release issued by the McHenry County Sheriff's Department.

Vincent P. Dunn, 18, 2086 Riverside Dr., was arrested and charged with one count home invasion, one count battery and one count criminal damage to property.

Sheriff Keith Nygren said at approximately 6:24 p.m. Thursday sheriff police responded to the 3100 block of Bull Valley Road, McHenry, to a battery incident.

The victim's father contacted the sheriff department and said Dunn entered his home without permission to speak with his son. While inside the house, a confrontation erupted, and Dunn allegedly punched the son in the face, the press release said.

The victim had minor injuries and refused medical treatment.

During this incident, Dunn damaged the rear door by throwing a brick through the window, damaged another window located on the side of the house, and broke the home owner’s cell phone, Nygren said in the release.

Dunn departed in a car, and was located a short time later by McHenry Police in a business parking lot.

After conferring with the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s office, Dunn was charged and transported to the McHenry County Jail in Woodstock.

Preliminary investigation indicates Dunn went to the house because the victim allegedly had taken money from him last weekend. Bond was set at $80,000. Dunn is scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m. Sept. 7.
