The woman was treated at the scene by responding Crystal Lake paramedics for injuries to her neck and both arms. She declined further medical assistance.

Investigation into this matter revealed a brief dating relationship had existed between the couple prior to this incident, but had ended. It is believed that Henshall located the victim at this location, and confronted her.

During the physical altercation that ensued, Henshall allegedly attempted to strangle the victim, and said he would take her life. The victim was able to ward him off until a group of nearby citizens and police arrived.

The victim indicated she had received numerous threatening telephone calls and text messages from Henshall prior to this incident.

Henshall was also found to be wanted on a McHenry County warrant for failing to appear in court for a driving on a suspended license charge.

Custody of Henshall was transferred to the McHenry County Jail, where he was awaiting bond.
