McHenry Man Arrested for Sexually Abusing Family Members

Thomas R. McAuliffe, 55, of McHenry, was arrested Oct. 30, and charged with two counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault.

A 55-year-old McHenry man was arrested Wednesday on charges he sexually abused two family members.

Thomas R. McAuliffe, (no address given) was charged Oct. 30, with two counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault, a Class 2 felony, following a joint investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff's Office and Twin Lakes Police Department.

The Sheriff's Office recently received information from the alleged victims, both minors, charging McAuliffe had sexually abused them on numerous occasions between 2009 and 2012, according to a Sheriff's Office news release.  

The victims are family members of McAuliffe, the release states. 

Sheriff’s investigators arrested McAuliffe and placed him into custody without incident. His bond was set at $40,000. He is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 15. 

According to the Sheriff's Office, there may be more victims and the investigation continues. The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office encourages any victim or anyone with information to contact sheriff’s investigators at 815-334-4750.
