McHenry County Sheriffs Office Seizes $40,000 in Marijuana

Anthony S. Johnson, 40, of Wonder Lake, was arrested for multiple offenses after neighbors complained of suspicious odors.

 

A Wonder Lake resident was arrested on multiple drug charges after concerned citizens reported suspicious ordors coming from his house, according to the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.

Anthony S. Johnson, 40, 7402 Hancock Dr. #1A, was arrested and charged Monday with the following charges, police said:

  • One count unlawful possession of cannabis with the intent to deliver.
  • One count unlawful possession of cannabis.
  • One count unlawful production of cannabis sativa plants.
  • One count unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Intelligence Led Policing Unit on Monday conducted a narcotics investigation at Johnson's rental property in unincorporated Wonder Lake after receiving tips about the suspicious odors.

Deputies met with Johnson, a twice-convicted felon for selling cannabis and LSD during the 1990s, McHenry County Sheriff Keith Nygren stated in a press release.

During the investigation, deputies seized 20 cannabis sativa plants, about 2,430 grams of cannabis, multiple items of drug paraphernalia, two scales and packaging materials, police said.

Deputies also removed numerous items of equipment and chemicals used in clandestine cannabis grow operations, police said.

Nygren estimated the total street value of the drugs was about $40,330.

The sheriff's office reports the investigation is on-going, and additional arrests may be forthcoming.
