Community High School District 155 is warning parents about an incident that occurred outside Cary-Grove High School on Friday afternoon.

A Cary-Grove High School student was approached at 4:30 p.m. Nov. 1, by an unknown man driving a white sports utility vehicle. The driver offered the student a ride, according to an automated phone message sent by District 155 Communications Director Jeff Puma.

The student refused the offer and fled back into the school building, located at 2208 Three Oaks Rd. in Cary., telling administrators about the encounter. The driver was described as a man with a dark complexion, Puma said.

"We urge you to discuss this with your child to help raise awareness and to keep them safe," Puma said in the message.

School officials immediately contacted the Cary-Grove Police Department about the incident. District 155 and the police continue to work together to investigate the event, Puma said.
