Deer Park Man, 76, Dies in Head-On Collision on Cuba Road

Woman and juvenile hurt, taken to hospital.

 

Update Aug. 8, Police Release Name of Car Accident Victim: 

The Lake County Coroner's Office has released the name of the man who died after a head-on crash on Cuba Rd. on Tuesday afternoon.

William Wang, 76, of Deer Park, died of multiple traumatic injuries, resulting from the collision on Cuba Road at Berkshire Lane.

Lake Zurich, Aug. 7- A male driver died after his 2006 Dodge Caravan struck a 2004 Ford Explorer on Cuba Road at Berkshire Lane this afternoon, according to Commander Kevin Finlon of the

Lake Zurich Fire Rescue responded to the accident at 1:21 p.m. The drivers of both vehicles required extrication, which took 19 minutes, according to Captain Bob Bachler of 

Bachler said the doors were pinned shut in both vehicles. He said the juvenile girl, who was the passenger of the Explorer, was laying on the ground. The male driver of the Caravan was transported to Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington, where he was pronounced dead. The female driver of the Explorer was also transported to Good Shepherd. The juvenile was taken to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. 

Commander Finlon said police are investigating the incident, but it appears the Caravan crossed the center line striking the Explorer.

Finlon said Cuba Road was closed for about three hours due to the accident.

Lake Zurich Fire Rescue was assisted at the scene by Barrington and Countryside fire stations. Wauconda and Long Grove fire departments provided coverage to Lake Zurich stations.

The Lake County Coroner’s office was unavailable for comment after regular office hours.
