About 5:25 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, a man robbed the Subway in St. Charles, 570 S. Randall Road. Police said the robber approached an employee and demanded money, saying he had a gun. No gun was displayed during the incident.

The employee told police that the robber’s hands were unconcealed during the incident, and that he never threatened the safety of the employee. The robber was given an undisclosed sum of money and fled.

According to Wednesday’s St. Charles Police Department release, the witnesses’s description of the robber appeared similar to that provided in similar robberies that occurred:

  • Oct. 31 in North Aurora.

  • Nov. 1 in South Elgin.

  • Nov. 5 in Cary.

  • A man robbed the Subway restaurant in Cary, located at 658 W. Route 14, at 4:48 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 5. In that incident, the robber also implied he had a gun, demanded money and fled on foot. He never displayed the weapon to the employees. Click here for more information on that robbery.

The release states that the witness statements, along with video surveillance, pointed to one person having committed all four robberies.

Authorities got their break in the case on Nov. 7, during a robbery at a Carpentersville business, in which the robber implied he had a weapon, demanded cash and then fled, the release states.

But a witness gave police information about a vehicle that might have been involved, and shortly afterward an Algonquin police officer found a vehicle matching that description, and Boyette was taken into custody.

Boyette was charged in the Carpentersville incident and transferred to the Kane County Jail, where he remains in custody on a $100,000 bond.
