Man Arrested For Bringing Drug To Court Date

Security found drug and alleged offender could not produce a prescription.

 

A 31-year-old Wonder Lake man was arrested when he showed up for a court date in possession of a controlled substance, Aug. 24.

David N. Harman, 31, 3705 Greenwood Dr., Wonder Lake arrived at McHenry County Government Center for a scheduled court appearance for theft, according to a news release from the office of McHenry County Sheriff Keith Nygren.

Harman was screened by security officers who located several unknown pills in his possession, according to the release.  The McHenry County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Bureau preliminarily identified the pills as being Suboxone, a Schedule  III controlled substance legal to possess when prescribed by a doctor. Harman could not produce a prescription nor a prescription bottle.

Suboxone is prescribed for the treatment of opioid dependency, according to the Suboxone website.

Schedule III drugs have legitimate medical uses, but with decreasing potential for abuse. Many barbiturates, tranquilizers, and performance-enhancing drugs are Schedule III or higher, according to the Encyclopaedia Britannica.

Harman was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, a Class 4 felony.
