The cause of death of a 24-year-old Lake in the Hills man found dead in a vehicle in rural Boone County remains under investigation.

Kevin Zent was found in the vehicle at 8:35 a.m on Monday on Spring Center Road 1/4-mile south of Shattuck Road in Belvidere in rural Boone County, according to a Boone County Sheriff’s Office press release.

A man living in the area reported the death after finding Zent alone in the vehicle Monday morning. That same man noticed the vehicle in the area a day earlier and called it in as a suspicious vehicle, according to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office.

Zent—a 2006 graduate of Jacobs High School—worked in maintenance at Sam’s Club, according to his Facebook page. On Sunday, Zent’s girlfriend posted a message asking anyone who had been with or seen Zent to contact her. She posted a similar message again on Monday.

The cause of Zent’s death has not yet been determined. An autopsy was performed Tuesday and "the result was inconclusive pending toxicology results," according to an e-mail from Boone County Coroner Rebecca Wigget.

Anyone with information into the death can contact the Booune County Sheriff’s Office at 815-546-5147 or Crime Stoppers at 815-547-7867.
