Woodstock Residents Arrested for Firearms, Drug Charges

Joint investigation between McHenry County Sheriff's Narcotics Unit and area police departments uncovers stolen weapons and drugs, police said.

 

Two men and one woman from unincorporated Woodstock were arrested on Thursday after sheriff's officers searched their home and uncovered firearms and marijuana, police said.

Lee Modesto Cruz, 27, of 9917 McConnell Rd., was charged with three counts unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, two counts unlawful possession of firearm ammunition by a felon, one count possession of certain dogs by a felon, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a press release issued by McHenry County Sheriff Keith Nygren.

Kevin M. Riley, 31, of the same address, was charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, one count unlawful possession of firearm ammunition by felon, one count unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, one count unlawful possession of marijuana and one count parole violation warrant- no bond, Nygren said. 

Colleen M. Loud, 22, of the same address, was charged with one count unlawful possession drug paraphernalia, Nygren said.

A fourth person at the home was detained, but released a short time later. McHenry County Animal Control was called to the scene to remove two pit bulls from the house.

In the release, Nygren said the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit conducted a joint investigation with police departments from Lake in the Hills, Huntley, and Carpentersville regarding stolen guns and narcotics.

On Oct. 4, members of the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team, Intelligence Led Policing Unit, K-9 Unit, and Narcotics Unit conducted a search warrant at the McConnell Road residence in unincorporated Woodstock.

During the search, deputies recovered one Uzi 9mm semi-automatic pistol, one 25mm semi-automatic pistol, one .38 revolver, one .22 revolver, numerous rounds of ammunition, one digital scale, multiple items of drug paraphernalia, and 3.5 grams of cannabis, according to the release.

Modesto was arrested last month by the McHenry County Sheriff's Office and charged with various offenses including robbery, mob action, battery, manufacturing/ delivering marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to McHenry County Court records. 

Riley also has charges pending against him, leveled by the sheriff's office and the Woodstock Police Department, for battery, mob action, possession/manufacturing/delivery of marijuana, according to court records.
