Home Damaged in Algonquin Fire

No one was injured Friday night in a house fire at 2141 Cumberland Parkway in Algonquin, according to the Algonquin-LITH Fire Protection District press release. 

Fire officials were called to the scene of the blaze at 9:08 p.m. Friday for a residential lock out and a report of smoke detectors sounding, according to the news release. 

When firefighters entered the home, they found smoke inside and a fire in the basement. The blaze was extinguished by 9:22 p.m., fire officials said. 

There was significant damage to the basement but "firefighters were able to save the home," according to the news release. No damage estimates were immediately available, and no one was injured in the blaze. 

Crews remained on scene until midnight investigating the fire and securing the home. The fire remains under investigation. 

The Carpentersville and Fox River Grove fire departments assisted with the blaze.
