Garage Fire in Crystal Lake Causes $50K in Damages

A garage was damaged in a fire at 5813 Sloan Lane, Crystal Lake.






A house fire contained to a garage in Crystal Lake caused about $50,000 in damage this morning, fire officials said.

The Crystal Lake Fire and Rescue Department responded to a report of a structure fire at 5813 Sloan Ln. at about 7:06 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20. The house is located on the far east side of Crystal Lake.

Early responders found smoke billowing from the garage. 

The firefighters initiated an offensive attack and had the fire under control in 15 minutes, said Fire Battalion Chief Robert Kohley in a news release. The fire was contained to the garage. 

No one was in the house when firefighters arrived, and no injuries were reported. 

Kohley said there was about $50,000 in damage to the garage and its contents. The damage included fire, smoke and water damage. 

The Red Cross assisted the residents displaced by the fire, Kohley said. 

The fire is under investigation.
