Former Sheriff's Sgt. Gregory Pyle Pleads Guilty to Sexually Assaulting Child

Former McHenry County Sheriff's sergeant Gregory Pyle, 38, of Crystal Lake, entered a guilty plea to charges of sexually assaulting a child in court on Friday.

Former McHenry County Sheriff's Sgt. Gregory M. Pyle, 38, of Crystal Lake, entered a guilty plea Friday, Jan. 3, to charges of crossing the state line and engaging in sexual acts with a minor, the Northwest Herald reports. He will be sentenced in April, and faces a minimum prison term of 30 years to life.

Pyle also faces similar state charges. The victim in both cases is a relative of Pyle's, authorities said in January 2012, when Pyle originally was arrested and charged with 10 counts of sexually assaulting a child.

Pyle admitted to driving the boy to Milwaukee in Dec. 18, 2008, and in engaging in acts that were "sadistic, masochistic and violent" with the then 8-year-old boy, the Northwest Herald story states. Pyle distributed images of the acts over the Internet. Prosecutors dropped the charge of distributing child pornography over the Internet in exchange for Pyle's guilty plea, according to story.
