UPDATE: Blaze Damages Condo Building in Crystal Lake

Firefighters responded to a blaze at a condo building on Carlemont Drive in Crystal Lake early Monday afternoon.

The fire started around 1:30 p.m. and appeared to have originated on the second floor of a two-story condo building located within the Randall Village condominiums on Carlemont Drive, which is just off of Randall Road near Village Road.

Flames could be seen from the balcony area of the unit. The fire appeared to be under control as of 2 p.m. while several firefighters remained at the scene.

The blaze did spread to the downstairs unit of the building, which also appeared to be damaged. Firefighters were venting the building, including neighboring units in the building, and continuing to spray the building with water just before 3 p.m.

Crystal Lake Police are advising residents to avoid Carlemont Drive between Village Road and Angela Lane, which has been closed due to the fire, according to an advisory sent out about 2:30 p.m.

Several area fire departments responded to the blaze, including Woodstock Fire Department, East Dundee Fire Department and Cary Fire Department. The Crystal Lake Police Department was also on scene. No additional information was immediately available.
