Elgin Man Arrested for Cary Subway Robbery

Cary Police Department arrested Rodney W. Boyette, 50, of Elgin and charged him with aggravated robbery for the Subway restaurant hold-up last month.

An Elgin man has been arrested for the Nov. 5 robbery at the Subway restaurant in Cary.

Rodney W. Boyette, 50, of the 400 block of Standish St., was arrested Friday, Dec. 6, by Cary Police Department.

He was charged with one count of aggravated robbery, a Class 1 felony, according to Michael Roth, acting police chief for Cary.

Cary Police had obtained a warrant for Boyette's arrest after recently interviewing him about the robbery.

The Elgin man had already been arrested Nov. 26 by St. Charles Police for a similar robbery that occurred on Nov. 3 at a Subway restaurant in St. Charles. He also was charged with a Nov. 7 robbery of a Subway in Carpentersville.

During the Nov. 5th heist, Boyette allegedly walked into the Subway at Cary, located at 658 Route 14, indicated he had a weapon in his pocket and demanded money from the cash register. He then ran away on foot.

Boyette is currently being held at $60,000 bond in the Kane County Jail.
