Howard E. Walker, 83, of Harvard, died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, in a car accident near Harvard.

The McHenry County Sheriff's Office is investigating a one-car accident that resulted in the death of an elderly Harvard man on Saturday, Nov. 9.

Howard E. Walker, 83, was transported at about 10:51 a.m. from the accident scene to Rockford Memorial Hospital, where he later died of his injuries, according to a Sheriff's Office news release.

Walker was driving a 2008 Kia Amanti, traveling eastbound on McGuire Road when his car left the roadway near Lindwall Road.

The Kia then traveled for several hundred feet through a field striking two culverts and making impact head on with a utility pole before coming to rest. Walker was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, Sheriff's authorities said.

Walker was the only occupant of the car.
