CVS Robbery Suspect Arrested by Police
Eric S. Sorenson, 29, of Crystal Lake was arrested Wednesday and charged with armed robbery and theft, police said.
A Crystal Lake man arrested less than two weeks ago for firearms violations has now been linked to the September armed robbery at CVS Pharmacy in Crystal Lake.
Eric S. Sorenson, 29, of 198 Lake Ct., was arrested by Crystal Lake Police on Wednesday, and charged with one count armed robbery, a Class X felony, and one count of theft over $500, a Class 3 felony, according to a press release issued by Police Chief David Linder.

Police said Sorenson was charged with the robbery, which occurred the evening of Sept. 2, at CVS Pharmacy, 1305 Randall Rd., Crystal Lake. Armed with a semi-automatic handgun, Sorenson passed the pharmacist a note demanding three bottles of Oxycodone, police said.
On Wednesday, Oct. 31, Crystal Lake officers executed an arrest warrant at Sorenson's home.

"Due to the seriousness of this incident and a concern for weapons, the Crystal Lake Police Department’s Emergency Services Team was activated and assisted investigators with the warrant service," Linder said in the release. "Mr. Sorenson was taken into custody without incident."
In addition to the robbery offense, Sorenson was charged with one count of theft over $500 for obtaining unauthorized control over a semi-automatic handgun that belonged to his father, police said.
Sorenson was transported to the McHenry County Jail in Woodstock. His bond was set at $100,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 28, police said.
The CVS arrest culminated a two-month criminal investigation involving a collaborative effort between the Crystal Lake Police, Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, and McHenry County State’s Attorney Office, Linder said in the release.
The new charges against Sorenson come nearly two weeks since his last encounter with the law.
During the overnight hours on Oct. 21, Sorenson, a convicted felon, was discovered by a Crystal Lake patrol officer in a nearby industrial park with loaded firearms in his possession, police said.
He was arrested and charged with three counts unlawful possession of a firearms, three counts unlawful possesion of firearm ammunition, and two counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, police said.
