Crystal Lake Woman Injured in 5-Vehicle Crash in Church Parking Lot

The accident happened Saturday morning at Adventist Fellowship Church on Trinity Drive in Lake in the Hills.

An elderly woman was taken to the hospital Saturday following an accident involving five vehicles in a Lake in the Hills church parking lot.

The crash occurred when Anothony Verhaeghe, 88, of Huntley, was driving through the parking lot at Adventist Fellowship Church, 9240 Trinity Drive, and collided his Cadillac with the rear fender of a smaller parked car, said Sgt. David Brey, chief of patrol services with the Lake in the Hills Police Department. The crash was reported around 11:37 a.m. Saturday.

He then collided with a Kia Rio, which was occupied by Betty Gilliland, 81, of Crystal Lake. The impact from that crash pushed her car 10 feet and into another parked car, which in turn was pushed into a final parked car, Brey said.
