Crystal Lake Woman Charged With Two Burglaries

Police say 20-year-old took cigarettes and cash in second burglary of the night.

A 20-year-old Crystal Lake woman was arrested in two separate burglaries in Crystal Lake. In the first burglary in the early morning hours on Sept. 1, the woman allegedly busted the store window at , 7103 Manor Road, Crystal Lake, but fled the scene before anything was taken, said McHenry County Undersheriff Andrew Zinke.

Brandi C. Seivert, 20, 4814 Sagers Road, Crystal Lake, was charged with criminal damage to property over $300, and burglary in the incident in rural Crystal Lake. . She is being held on a $20,000 bond.

She also was charged with criminal damage to property, burglary and theft in connection with a similar incident in the city of Crystal Lake. She is being held in lieu of $25,000 on those charges.

Sheriff’s police were alerted by a passing motorist who called police at 2 a.m. Sept. 1, reporting a woman breaking the front window of the store. The suspect already had fled when police arrived.

After fleeing from the store, authorities say Seivert used a wrench to break the glass out of the back door at the Gas Depot, 471 W. Virginia St., Crystal Lake, at about 3 a.m., according to police Cmdr. Mike Brichetto. She took $395, five packs of Marlboro cigarettes, and an unknown amount of various brands of cigarettes.

While McHenry County sheriff’s deputies were responding to the scene, one of them reported speaking to a suspicious person in the area about 15 minutes earlier. The sheriff’s officers found Seivert at her home, and during an investigation, she admitted to the burglary at , said Zinke. The investigation also determined that she committed the Gas Depot burglary.

Seivert is being held at the McHenry County Adult Correctional Facility awaiting bond. Her next court date is Sept. 12.
