Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Hosts Open House on Saturday

The public is invited to see the Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department's equipment and meet with firefighters and police officers this Saturday.

Fire engines, antique fire trucks, ambulances.

If you have an interest in seeing the city's fire fighting and emergency rescue fleet up close, make plans to attend the Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department's Open House this Saturday.

The annual Open House is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 5, at 100 W. Woodstock St., Crystal Lake. 

The public is invited to see and participate in interactive and educational activities for the whole family. 

Activities for the day include displays of fire engines, ambulances, antique fire vehicles and other equipment used to respond to emergencies. There will be tours of the fire station, hose drills for kids, and the safety house to practice exiting a house. 

Nicor, ComEd and Metra also will have safety information available. 

The Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Dive Team will have its underwater communication system equipment on display. Members of the Crystal Lake Police Department will be on hand, as well. 

Information about Flight for Life, operations of the platform truck, fire extinguisher demonstrations, and a live burn also will be available. 

Parking will be available at the Crystal Lake Municipal Complex, 100 W. Woodstock St., Crystal Lake. Additional parking is available at 110 W. Woodstock St. (West of the Municipal Complex) and at the parking lot across from 110 W. Woodstock.
