Crystal Lake Police Arrest Several People for Retail Theft; Man Charged with Having Loaded Gun

Retail Theft

Joann D. Cunningham, 30, of the 90 block of Dole Ave., was arrested June 25, and charged with retail theft valued under $150. Police said Cunningham stole a Sony video camera from Best Buy. Bond was set at $1,500, 10 percent applies. Cunningham was scheduled to appear in court July 23.

Sean T. Iwamoto, 19, of the 700 block of Wedgewood Dr., Crystal Lake, was arrested July 17, and charged with retail theft of merchandise valued under $150. Police said Iwamoto stole performance supplements from GNC. Bond was set at $1,500, 10 percent applies. Iwamoto is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 20. 

Jose Armando Valencia, 19, of the 100 block of Pauline Ave., Crystal Lake, was arrested June 30, and charged with retail theft of merchandise valued under $150. Police said Valencia stole a wrist watch from Kohls. Bond was set at $1,500, 10 percent applies. Valencia is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 20.

Lisa L. Okeson, 45, of the 100 block of Capella Ct., Lake in the Hills, was arrested July 29, and charged with retail theft of merchandise valued under $150. She posted 10 percent of a $1,500 bond and was released. She is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 20. 

Brett M. Jurgens, 26, of the 300 block of Van Buren Street, Crystal Lake, was arrested July 30, and charged with retail theft of merchandise valued under $150. Jurgens was transported to the McHenry County Correctional Facility in Woodstock. He is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 20. 

Marijuana Possession

Stephanie L. Tweedy, 28, of the 1300 block of Lucerne Dr., Crystal Lake, was arrested July 16, and charged with possession of less than 2.5 grams cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, and two counts of unlawful to knowingly possess a controlled or counterfeit substance. Tweedy was transported to the McHenry County Sheriff's Office, where her bond was set at $1,500, 10 percent applies. She was awaiting a court date.
 

Illegal Possession of Loaded Gun

Jeffrey S. Komes, 50, of the 6000 block of Route 31, Crystal Lake, was arrested July 6, and charged with:

  • Carry/possession of a firearm
  • Illegal possession of ammunition
  • Possession of expired firearm FOID
  • Battery
  • Criminal damage to property, under $300
  • Interfering with the reporting of domestic violence
  • Driving on a suspended drivers license
Police said Komes was arrested for illegally possessing a loaded firearm without a FOID card, and illegal transporting it in a vehicle. Komes was transported to the McHenry County Sheriff's Office, where he was awaiting bond and was scheduled to appear in court Aug. 6.
