Crystal Lake Police: Teens Arrested for Stealing Drum Set, Several 'Retail Theft' Arrests

Crystal Lake Police release arrest reports for Jan. 8 to 28, 2013.

 

Note: The following information was obtained from Crystal Lake Police arrest reports. An arrest is an accusation and does not constitute guilt. An individual can only be found guilty in a court of law.

Theft

Benjamin G. Oswald, 18, 1615 Stockton Ln., Crystal Lake, was arrested Jan. 22, and charged with one count of theft, valued at $500 to $10,000. Police said Oswald stole cash over a period of time from a register at 5580 Route 14, where he was employed. Oswald was transported to the McHenry County Jail, where he was awaiting bond and a court date.

Retail Theft

Timothy J. Sani, 27, 1203 Magnolia St., Harvard, was arrested Jan. 25, and charged with two counts of retail theft under $300 and two counts of criminal trespass to land. Police said Sani stole DVDs from Domicks Finer Foods, 5340 Route 14. Sani was transported to the McHenry County Jail, where he was waiting bond and a court date.

Juan C. Ramirez, 43, 810 Northfield Dr., Harvard, was arrested Jan. 28, and charged with retail theft. Police said Ramirez stole calculators from Walmart, 1205 S. Route 31. He posted $150 bond and was released. He was scheduled to appear in court Feb. 12.

Ronald J. Bender, 46, 4417 Scott Ct., Crystal Lake, was arrested Jan. 8 and charged with retail theft. Police said Bender stole alcohol from Dominick's Finer Foods, 5340 Route 14. Bender was transported to the McHenry County Jail. He was not released on bond. He was scheduled to appear in court Feb. 19.

Angela N. Strauss, 31, Holly Dr., Crystal Lake, was arrested Jan. 18, and charged with one count of retail theft. Police said Strauss stole children's clothing from Kohl's, 5420 Route 14. Strauss was released and was awaiting a court date.

April M. Staples, 47, 442 N. Ridgeland Ave., Elmhurst, was arrested Jan. 22, and charged with one count of retail theft. Police said Staples stole books and some food from Dominick's Finer Foods, 5340 Route 14. Bond was set at $1,500, and Staples is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 19.

Burglary & Theft of Drum Set

Jacob C. Dailey, 19, 1278 Walnut Glen Dr., Crystal Lake, and Jacob R. Dunteman, 19, 722 Concord Dr., Crystal Lake, each were arrested Jan. 18, and charged with one count of burglary and one count theft under $500.

Police said Dailey and Dunteman stole a drum set from a vehicle parked in the 0 to 100 block of Honeysuckle Drive. Bond for each was set at $4,000, and both men were scheduled to appear in court Feb. 7.

Unlawful Use of Weapon, Marijuana Possession   

 Steven M. Reyes, 19, 790 Circle Dr., Algonquin, was arrested Jan. 17, and charged with unlawful use of a blackjack/knife and one count possession of between 2.5 to 10 grams cannabis.

Police said Reyes had a set of brass knuckles with a knife attached during a traffic stop. "Mere possession of brass knuckles constitutes the offense of unlawful use of weapons," police said.

Reyes was released on a $150 bond, and is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 19.
