Crystal Lake Police Issue 71 Citations during Holiday Driving Enforcement Crackdown

Crystal Lake Police Department completes the 4th of July holiday crackdown to save lives.





Crystal Lake Police stopped 68 motorists and issued 71 traffic citations during its two-week long holiday safe driving crackdown.

The police department participated in seven separate enforcement campaigns from June 28 to July 7, to "increase safety on our community's roadways," according to Cmdr. Dan Dziewior. 

The Independence Day safe driving enforcement campaign was part of the statewide driving initiatives, "Drive Sober, or Get Pulled Over" and "Click it, or Ticket."

During the mobilization, Crystal Lake Police issued the following tickets: 

Stopped 68 motorists for traffic violations

Issued a total of 71 traffic citations, which included:

  • 52 safety belt citations
  • 7 citations for speeding
  • 1 citation for operation of an uninsured motor vehicle
  • 3 citations for equipment and other moving violations
  • 4 citations for unlawful use of an electronic communications device
  • 2 citations for improper lane use
  • 1 disregarding a red-light citation
  • 1 failure to yield to an emergency vehicle citation

In addition, two people were arrested for the following offenses:
  • 1 adult female was arrested for DUI- alcohol
  • 1 adult male was arrested for driving while license suspended

The recent law enforcement crackdown was funded by federal traffic safety funds through IDOT's Division of Traffic Safety.
