Crystal Lake Man Killed in I-55 Head-on Collision
Erick Raul Mota-Benitez, 28, of Crystal Lake, died as the result of a two-car collision on I-55 Sunday, Dec. 1.
A Crystal Lake man was killed in a two-car crash Sunday morning on I-55 near Lemont Road in Darien.
Erick Raul Mota-Benitez, 28, died from multiple traumatic injuries as a result of the crash, the Daily Herald reports. Mota-Benitez was pronounced dead at the scene.
ABC7 News reported the collision occurred at about 5:30 a.m., Dec. 1, in the southbound lanes where Mota-Benitez was driving the wrong direction and crashed into an oncoming SUV.
Rescue workers used the jaws of life to free the SUV driver, who was taken to the hospital in critical condition, ABC7 News reported.
