A Crystal Lake man had inappropriate sexual contact with a child on various occasions over the period of one year, according to Crystal Lake Police.
Michael A. Petersen, 35, of 1390 Fair Oaks Ave., was arrested Friday, Dec. 14, without incident at his parents' Huntley home, according to Crystal Lake Police Commander Mike Brichetto.
Petersen was charged with two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, a Class 2 felony, and one count of indecent solicitation of a child, a Class 3 felony, Brichetto said in a press release. He was transported to the McHenry County Jail, with bond being set at $100,000.
According to the release, the Illinois Department of Children and Family services alerted police of the alleged abuse after receiving a call from a mandated reporter.
A police investigation subsequently revealed that Petersen had engaged in inappropriate sexual conduct with a child under the age of 13. The incidents occured on or about September 2011 through December 2012, Brichetto said.
Petersen is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 4.
Crystal Lake Police advise as a reminder that persons arrested and charged with offenses are considered innocent until found guilty in a court of law.
