Crystal Lake Man Charged With Domestic Battery
Charges include Class 4 Felony Aggravated Domestic Battery.
A 30-year-old Crystal Lake man remains in McHenry County Jail Oct. 6 after being charged with Aggravated Domestic Battery against a 25-year-old female.
According to Deputy Crystal Lake Police Chief Eugene Lowery, the victim told police that she was a victim of domestic violence and that Jamie Richards had held her against her will and threatened her life between the hours of 1:30 a.m. to 5 a.m. Oct. 2.
Richards allegedly choked and punched the victim and held a knife to her throat.

Richards surrendered without incident to police on Oct. 5 and was transferred to McHenry County Jail.
Richards is charged with Class 2 Felony Aggravated Domestic Battery; Class 4 Felony Unlawful Restraint; and two Class A misdemeanors – Unlawful Interference with the Reporting of Domestic Violence and Aggravated Assault.

Richards is held on $60,000 bond and has a court date of Oct. 12 in McHenry County Courthouse.
If convicted of all charges, Richards faces a maximum penalty of 10 years prison; two years jail; and $55,000 in fines.
