Crystal Lake Man Arrested After Using Broken Beer Glass as Weapon

Sheriff arrests 31-year-old after altercation at Kief's Reef.

A 31-year-old man was arrested after sheriff deputies say he used a broken beer glass as a weapon.

Austin R. Hobday, 31, of 1332 Beach St. in Crystal Lake was charged Oct. 17 with three counts of aggravated battery after McHenry County Sheriff's Deputies were called to Kief's Reef in unincorporated McHenry for a reported battery Oct. 16.

According to the Sheriff's Office, several witnesses reported that two males were involved in a verbal argument for unknown reasons. During the argument, Hobday used a broken beer glass as a weapon and struck the victim on the neck.

The victim sustained injuries which caused him to be flown to Condell Hospital where he was later treated for a non life-threatening injury.

Bond and a court date have not been set.
