Crystal Lake Man, 23, in Critical Condition after Dirt Bike Accident

Kyle R. Pratt was injured Saturday afternoon while riding a Motocross near Nunda Trail and Terra Cotta Road just outside Crystal Lake city limits.

A Crystal Lake man is listed in critical condition after he lost control of his dirt bike late Saturday afternoon and crashed on ComEd property in unincorporated Crystal Lake.

Kyle R. Pratt, 23, 995 Whitehall Way, was transported from the scene and initially taken to Centegra Hospital in McHenry.

From there, he was flown via medical helicopter to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where he is listed in critical condition, according to McHenry County Sheriff Keith Nygren.

Pratt was riding a 2002 Suzuki RM Motocross at about 5:21 p.m. Saturday, April 13. He was traveling eastbound on ComEd property located under the high voltage power lines in an area west of Terra Cotta Road and south of Nunda Trail.

He lost control of the bike for unknown reasons, and was ejected from the Suzuki as it continued eastbound and collided with a chain link fence. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, Nygren said in a release.

The investigation is ongoing by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigations Unit.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, McHenry County Conservation Police, Crystal Lake Police Department, and Crystal Lake Fire Protection District responded to the scene of a reported motorcycle crash.
