Crystal Lake Man, 21, Killed in Car Accident
Cody A. Welch, of the 200 block of Ridge Ave., died after his car struck a tree at about 12:35 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, in Carpentersville.
A 21-year-old Crystal Lake man died early Wednesday after his car struck a tree on Route 31 in Carpentersville, the Daily Herald reports.
Cody A. Welch, of the 200 block of Ridge Ave., was driving a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta at about 12:35 a.m. Dec. 19, when his car hit a tree in the 0-99 block of Route 31 in Carpentersville, the story said.

Welch was driving south on Route 31 when the car left the road, the story stated. Police told the Daily Herald that speed is believed to have contributed to the crash.
Welch and his passenger were taken to Sherman Hospital in Elgin, where Welch was pronounced dead. His passenger remained in the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, the Herald stated.
