Crash Stops Traffic on Pyott

Motorcycle crash, involving SUV, stops traffic near Rakow Road.

A crash involving a motorcycle and an SUV stopped traffic today on Pyott Road.

Emergency crews from the e and responded to the crash on Pyott Road, near Rakow Road, involving a 1994 Honda Goldwing motorcycle and a 1998 Ford Explorer. According to the police, the motorcycle hit the Explorer from behind while the SUV was stopped at a red light on the corner of Pyott Road.

According to police, the rider of the motorcycle, Paul Ruge, 57, of Bloomingdale, Il. was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid a collision, and was released from the scene.

Ruge was examined by Crystal Lake paramedics, and declined emergency transport. The driver of the Explorer was not injured.

Traffic was diverted from the southbound lanes for approximately 30 minutes as crews assessed the drivers, and removed the damaged vehicles and debris.
