Vandals Break Car and House Windows in Crystal Lake

The Crystal Lake Police Department and Crystal Lake Crime Stoppers are seeking information to help solve multiple cases of damage/ vandalism throughout the city.

 

Crime Stoppers and are seeking information to help solve several cases of property damage that have occurred throughout the city.

Police said during the overnight hours of Thursday, Aug. 23, and leading into the morning of Sunday, Aug. 26, unknown offenders broke several home windows using such items as bricks and landscape lights, according to a press release issued by Community Relations Officer Kimberely Shipbaugh.

Another house was 'egged.' 

During the same time period, someone threw bricks at multiple car windows, shattering them. One car had sugar poured into the gas tank.

"These crimes were committed in various areas of Crystal Lake," Shipbaugh said. "If any suspicious subjects, or vehicles were observed in your neighborhood, please contact the Crystal Lake Police Department."

Tipsters can call the Crystal Lake Police Department Investigations Division at 815-459-4481 (this number does not use Caller ID). Tips also can be texted anonymously to TIP411 (847411) with the keyword "TIPCLPD" within the text.

Anyone with information about the crimes can also call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-762-STOP (7867). Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and filing of criminal charges against offenders.

Crime Stoppers does not use Caller ID.
