CL Police Host Citizen Police Academy

Twelve-week program starts Sept. 20, 2012.

 

Ever wanted to get a behind the scenes look at the law enforcement field?

The is hosting the Citizens Police Academy starting on Sept. 20.

The 12-week program, designed to give participants a working knowledge of the local police department, will meet from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday nights through Dec. 13, according to a press release issued by Community Relations Officer Kimberley Shipbaugh.

The goal of the CPA is to "create a better understanding, communication and partnership between the citizens and the police department through education, in order to establish a safer community," Shipbaugh said.

Participants must be 18 years old to register for the CPA, and pass a criminal background check. Preference will be given to residents of Crystal Lake and people who work in the city.
