CL Dryer Fire Damages Townhomes

Crystal Lake firefighters managed to contain fire to the laundry room, but water and smoke damaged two units.

Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department said a fire appears to have started in a dryer at a townhouse located at 432 Windham Cove, the Northwest Herald is reporting.

The fire broke out at about 11 a.m. Saturday at the residence, which is located near the Randall and Ackman roads intersection. Several other departments assisted in fighting the fire, the Northwest Herald reports.

The blaze was under control by 11:45 a.m. Firefighters managed to contain the fire to the laundry room of unit 432; however, that suffered smoke and water damage, the article said. The adjacent townhouse at 430 also had water damage. In total, the fire caused about a $40,000 loss, the Northwest Herald story said.

Two residents were displaced by the fire and planned to stay with relatives.
