Cary Village Board Grants Fence Variances, Closer to New Village Administrator

Village of Cary held their regular board meeting Tuesday, Aug. 16.

The Cary Village Board held their regular board meeting Tuesday night, in which they discussed employee recognitions, fence variances and title 2 in the municipal codes.

Cary police officer Tim Sanford was recognized by the Illinois Department of Transportation for getting 1000 speed citations in Cary.

Chief of Cary Police, said the goals of the department are to provide safety and traffic enforcement and appreciates Officer Sanford for helping the department achieve that goal.

The board voted in favor to have Village attorney Michael Coppedge to review the title 2 codes to make sure they meet Illinois statues.

Coppdege said it would take five to 10 hours to complete the review of the codes.

Mayor Tom Kierna said once the codes are reviewed, the board will proceed with discussion on the proposed changes.

David and Anne Boone, of 423 Candlewood Trail in Cary, received a fence variance after petitioning to the administration and development committee and the village board.

Their fence is in need of replacement, which was there since 1985, according to the Boones’.

Cary Trustee Ray Chisholm said too many fences were approved before but it’s not fair to homeowners now. Chisholm said if homeowners are replacing a fence as it stands, they should be able too.

Also, Mayor Kierna said Voorhees Associates has narrowed down the number of candidates for a and the board will hold a special board meeting to discuss the candidates.
