Steve Ostergaard describes the horror as one of the teens he was chaperoning was hit by a bullet.
A Cary middle school special education teacher is one of the survivors of the Colorado movie theater shooting Thursday that left 12 people dead and dozens injured, according to a story on Pioneer Local.
Steve Ostergaard, of Lake Bluff, was chaperoning 11 students at a national stutterers conference in Colorado and took them to see “Dark Knight Rises” at Aurora’s Century Theater Thursday, the newspaper reported. One was hit by a bullet.
“He said, ‘Ow! It hit me. I’m bleeding,’” Ostergaard said in the Pioneer story. “At that point, I began to hear multiple gunshots.”
