Car Hits Horse on Route 176

Horse, with injuries too severe to treat, had to be euthanized at the accident scene.

 

A horse was struck by a car on Route 176 on Friday after several horses escaped from their pasture.

McHenry County Sheriff Keith Nygren said that at about 1:10 AM on Sept. 28, deputies responded to 15100 block of Route 176 in unincorporated Seneca Township for a car crash involving a horse.

No passengers in the vehicle were injured, Nygren said.

The owners of the horse were located, and police called a veterinary doctor to the scene. The injuries to the horse were determined to be too severe to treat, and the horse was euthanized at the scene.

No charges were filed as a result of this crash, Nygren said.
