UPDATE: Breakers Restaurant Remains Closed for Repairs

A distracted driver veered off Route 14 and crashed into the Breakers kitchen in February.

 

The Breakers Restaurant in Crystal Lake remains closed for repairs after a car ran into the side of the Chinese restaurant in February, according to information posted on The Breakers website. 

Repairs are underway and the restaurant at 7728 Highway 14 in Crystal Lake. Owners hope to re-open the first week in April, according to an answering machine message received when calling The Breakers on March 21.

The car that struck the building caused damage to the kitchen area of the restaurant, according to The Breaker's website.

A distracted driver veered off Route 14 early Sunday morning and crashed into the Breakers Restaurant, leaving a hole in the wall of the kitchen, the Northwest Herald reports.

Ryan Wetham, 29, of Crystal Lake, was issued two traffic citations, the Herald reports.

Wetham was driving west on Route 14 when he dropped something on the floor of his car and became distracted. His car left the road at 7 am. and struck the Breakers, located at 7728 Route 14. No one was in the restaurant at the time, the Herald reports.
