Car Crash Near Woodstock Leaves 2 Women in Critical Condition

Two women are reported in critical condition following a two-car accident near Harvard on Saturday morning.

The accident happened at about 10:08 a.m. Jan. 25, near the intersection of Alden and McCauley roads in unincorporated Hartland Township near Woodstock, according to the McHenry County Sheriff's Office. 

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office along with members of the Harvard Police Department, the Woodstock Fire Protection District and the Harvard Fire Protection District responded to the scene.

Preliminary investigation indicated a 2001 Chevrolet Blazer was traveling north on Alden Road and collided with a 2006 Honda CRV traveling south on Alden Road. The two vehicles collided head on, the sheriff said. 

The driver of the Chevrolet, Ardene Raven, 77, of McHenry, was transported via R.E.A.C.T. to Rockford Memorial Hospital in Rockford, where she is in critical condition.

The driver of the Honda, Vicki Rodriguez, 47, of Harvard, was also transported via Lifeline to St. Anthony’s Medical Center in Rockford, where she was listed in critical condition, the sheriff said. 

Weather and roadway conditions are suspected as a factor in the traffic crash. Alcohol was not suspected as playing a role in the crash. The usage of safety restraints is still under investigation.

The traffic crash is under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Investigation Unit.
