Arrested: Crystal Lake Man Violated Probation, Gave Police False Name

Deonte J. Johnson-Jones was about to board a train heading to Chicago when McHenry County Sheriff's deputies arrested him on Wednesday, April 3.

A Crystal Lake man was close to boarding a Metra train headed to Chicago last Wednesday when sheriff police stopped him in his own tracks.

McHenry County Sheriff Keith Nygren said his department received information on April 3, from McHenry County Court Services-Probation that Deonte J. Johnson-Jones, 19, of 79.5 N. Williams St., was wanted for violating conditions of his probation.

The Sheriff's Office Intelligence Led Policing Unit received information Johnson-Jones was attempting to flee to Chicago and was in the area of the Metra Train Station in downtown Crystal Lake, Nygren stated in a release issued Monday.

During the investigation, Sheriff’s deputies identified Johnson-Jones using photographs and other physical identifiers, yet, he still provided them with a false name, Nygren said.

Deputies transported Johnson-Jones to the McHenry County Correctional Facility where he was positively identified through fingerprint identification.

Johnson-Jones was charged Wednesday, April 3, with obstructing justice (Class 4 felony), and petition to revoke warrant-bond for $35,000, the release said.

Bond was set at $35,000, and Johnson-Jones is scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m. April 8, Nygren said.
