Poll: Chowdown Showdown Ice Cream Challenge

Vote for this week's Chowdown Showdown champ!

For this week's McHenry County Patch Chowdown Showdown, we asked readers to tell us which area business serves up the best ice cream or frozen custard or yogurt in McHenry County.

Thank you to everyone who submitted their votes by commenting in our article from earlier this week.

This week's four finalists: Julie Ann’s in Crystal Lake, Oberweis in McHenry, The Freeze in Crystal Lake and Yumz in Crystal Lake.

An honorable mention goes out to Van’s Frozen Custard in Carpentersville, which is Kane County.

You can cast your vote for your favorite spot by submitting your answer in the poll below.

Voting will continue through 12 p.m. Friday. Check back first thing Saturday morning to find out if your restaurant has been chosen as this week's Chowdown Showdown Champion for having the best ice cream or frozen custard in the county!

Be sure to tell us in the comments below if your favorite sushi restaurant is not included in this Chowdown Showdown. And also be sure to tell us what makes your favorite ice cream or frozen custard shop so great!

About this column: Each week, the McHenry County Patch sites will be on the hunt for the best place to get certain entrees in the area. The Chowdown Showdown will allow readers to vote on where their favorite place is to get a burger or a latte or a steak, etc., in the county.

What about Colonial Ice Cream at the Colonial Cafe? The Kitchen Sink is a legend.

Would have voted for Vans, but of the ones listed Julie Ann's Yup, Colonial should have been on the list too.
