Mike Webster Announces Bid for Illinois Attorney General

(Hinsdale) Michael E. “Mike” Webster today announced his candidacy for Attorney General of the State of Illinois. Webster, 53, is in the process of gathering petitions to file in the Republican Primary election March 18 2014. “The people of Illinois have been shortchanged for too long by their elected leaders in Springfield, especially by the current attorney general, “ stated Webster. “ Because the current attorney general is beholden to relatives, friends and special interests, she has been unable or unwilling to fulfill her duties to the people of Illinois, particularly in the area of political corruption and cronyism,” he added.
 
A lifelong resident of Illinois, Mike Webster grew up in Joliet and graduated from Joliet Catholic High School, The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and received his law degree from DePaul University College of Law in Chicago. He acquired his license to practice law in Illinois in 1986. He is also a Certified Public Accountant. “As a lawyer and a CPA, I have the business and legal skills to manage the office of attorney general Not only that, since I am not beholden to the Springfield power brokers I will not be afraid to root out the corruption and political shenanigans that have become commonplace in Illinois,” Webster said.

Webster’s practice specialties include: business succession planning, family wealth succession planning, estate planning and taxation, probate and trust administration. Prior to establishing Webster & Schelli, P.C. in 1991 with his partner James Schelli, Jr., Webster was a tax manager in the Chicago office of Arthur Andersen & Co.

Webster is the President of the Board of Education for Cass School District #63 in Darien, Illinois. He was first elected to the Cass Board of Education in 2005, and re-elected in 2009 and 2013.

Webster lives with his wife, Sandy, and their four daughters in unincorporated Hinsdale.
